Reflecting on Round Table Pizza and Our Journey as a Social Enterprise

At Columbia Ability Alliance, every venture we’ve undertaken has been guided by one powerful belief: everyone deserves a meaningful place in the workforce.

From 2019 to 2025, our ownership of the four Round Table Pizza locations in the Tri-Cities was more than just a business, it was a bold expression of what it means to be a social enterprise. These locations served as living classrooms, places where people with disabilities or other barriers to employment could gain real-world experience, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward independence.

As of December 2025, we’ve officially sold our Round Table Pizza locations. While this marks the close of a chapter, it’s also a moment to reflect with pride on the impact we made, and the lives that were touched.

From Slices to Skills: A Social Enterprise in Action

Unlike traditional businesses that operate solely for profit, a social enterprise blends purpose and profit to drive social change. Through our Round Table Pizza locations, Columbia Ability Alliance reinvested revenue directly into inclusive employment and training programs for individuals with disabilities and other life barriers.

This model worked. Not as a charity, but as a mission-aligned business where people worked real jobs in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting, earning skills that would shape their futures.

Meaningful Roles, Measurable Growth

From front counter service to kitchen prep and dining room assistance, these roles created opportunities for growth in time management, communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Supported by job coaches and customized training, participants thrived, and moved on to other positions in the community with increased confidence and capability.

Why It Mattered

Round Table Pizza became more than a workplace, it became a proof point that inclusive hiring works. It showed what’s possible when business leaders embrace flexibility, training, and the belief that every person has value to contribute.

Our team members weren’t just learning to make pizzas, they were learning to be part of something bigger.

What’s Next for Inclusive Employment in the Tri-Cities

While the Round Table Pizza chapter has closed, our mission continues… stronger and more focused than ever.

Columbia Ability Alliance remains committed to building inclusive workplaces through strategic partnerships with local employers, ongoing job coaching, and our School to Work program. We’re doubling down on creating employment pathways that are sustainable, scalable, and centered on equity.
