Natalia’s Story: From Student to Staff

Associated Program: Opportunity Kitchen

Natalia’s first connection to Columbia Ability Alliance began with Opportunity Kitchen’s 12-week culinary training program. As a student, she showed exceptional skill in both cooking and baking, but it was her energy, commitment, and eagerness to learn that stood out most.

Through Opportunity Kitchen, Natalia not only sharpened her culinary abilities—she also gained valuable life skills, professional experience, and the confidence needed to take on bigger challenges. By the time she graduated, Natalia had become a standout among her peers.

It was no surprise when Natalia was hired onto the Opportunity Kitchen team, a tradition the program proudly upholds by offering employment to talented graduates. Now, Natalia works side by side with new students, helping them find the same confidence and growth she experienced not long ago.

Opportunity Kitchen blends hands-on training with real-world service. From catering events like the Iron Man competition to preparing thousands of meals for community partners, the program equips students with the tools and support they need to succeed in the food industry and beyond. Natalia’s story is just one of many that demonstrate how a single opportunity can lead to lifelong impact.
