Employment Services: Foundational Community Supports (FCS)
At Columbia Ability Alliance, we understand that finding meaningful employment can be challenging, especially for individuals with complex needs. That’s where our Foundational Community Supports (FCS) program comes in. We offer benefits for supported employment to Medicaid-eligible individuals, providing services and support to help qualified individuals obtain and maintain stable employment. There is no charge for employment services to individuals who are referred for service by a partner agency, such as the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Developmental Disabilities Administration, Wellpoint, Foundational Community Supports, or school districts.
We will complete an assessment and submit it to Wellpoint along with any required medical documentation of the health need. Once we get approval, we will begin working with you to obtain employment that matches your skills and interests.
After approval from Wellpoint, we will work with you on a weekly basis to develop your resume, practice interviewing skills, and apply for jobs. We can provide as much help as needed to help you obtain meaningful employment and be successful at your job.
The FCS Supported Employment program is open to individuals enrolled in a Washington Apple Health plan who also experience complex health needs that impact their ability to get a job and/or keep a job.
We help job seekers with disabilities and other challenges achieve employment through:
- Job placement
- Job search with skills training
- Career counseling
- Resume building
- One-on-one job coaching
- Assessment services
Potential enrollees need to meet one of five health needs criteria:
- Be enrolled in the Aged, Blind, or Disabled Cash Assistance program.
- Be enrolled in the Housing and Essential Needs program.
- Have a documented diagnosis of a severe and persistent mental illness or behavioral health condition, such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, or bipolar disorder.
- Have a documented substance use disorder.
- Individuals who are receiving long-term services and support. People in this category often need assistance with three or more Activities of Daily Living, or ADL’s.
Columbia Ability Alliance: Employment Services is proud to be accredited by CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
