Rikki-Lee’s journey is a story of strength, forgiveness, and the transformative power of meaningful work. A proud mom of two teenagers, she’s eight years sober — and thriving thanks to support from Columbia Ability Alliance.
She speaks openly about her past struggles with substance abuse, a battle that once separated her from her children. But today, she beams with pride as she talks about being back in their lives.
“It’s just so amazing having my kids love me and forgive me… I got to witness them getting their licenses, going on dates — cool stuff you don’t get when you’re high.”
A New Chapter Begins with CI
Rikki-Lee found Columbia Ability Alliance when she was ready to reclaim her future. She worked closely with her CI case manager, meeting weekly to build her resume, apply for jobs, and stay on track.
“They were just involved in my life… I got pretty close with some of the CI workers. They were nice, supportive — and helped me get this job.”
That ongoing support helped her build confidence — not just in the workplace, but in herself.
“It makes me feel responsible, like an adult. Like I can make my own way in the world.”
From Recovery to Responsibility
For Rikki-Lee, having a job isn’t just about income. It’s about identity, purpose, and pride. She’s now part of a team where she feels valued and supported — something she always sensed was meant to be.
“I always felt in my heart that this is where I was supposed to work.”
Her story illustrates why Columbia Ability Alliance’s model works: it’s not one-and-done. It’s about building real relationships and staying connected long after someone gets the job.
“He even came in a couple times to check on me… I don’t think I could have done it without Columbia Industries.”
Forging a Brighter Future
Today, Rikki-Lee is a role model for her children and an inspiration to her coworkers. Her energy is infectious, her outlook is optimistic, and her message is clear: with the right support, recovery and success are possible.
