Columbia Industries and Local Credit Unions Team Up for Success on International Credit Union Day

In celebration of International Credit Union Day, Columbia Industries (CI) hosted a successful Hygiene Drive on October 19, 2023 with support from Gesa Credit Union, HAPO Credit Union, Numerica Credit Union, STCU, and Tri-CU.

The event resulted in the assembly of 200 women’s hygiene kits, 200 men’s hygiene kits, and 200 winter preparedness kits, each filled with essential items like toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, feminine products, socks, hats, and hand warmers. In addition to these kits, Columbia Industries received a range of new men’s and women’s coats to help individuals gear up for the impending cold weather.

“I was so excited to partner with Columbia Industries and all our local Credit Unions. Giving back to our communities isn’t just what we do as Credit Unions, it is what we are,” said Doug Wadsworth, President of Tri-CU.

In addition to providing donated supplies and winter weather gear, each credit union also donated $2,000 to CI to support their mission programs, for a total of $10,000.

“The power of community partnership was on full display during International Credit Union Day,” said Michael Novakovich, President and CEO of Columbia Industries. “The generosity of Gesa, HAPO, Numerica, STCU and Tri-CU went beyond volunteerism to ensure the clients we serve have critical resources available to them. Their financial investment in Columbia Industries is helping us to build an even better community, with greater accessibility, for all to enjoy.”

The beneficiaries of the hygiene kits and winter weather gear are individuals with disabilities and life barriers who seek assistance by walking through CI’s doors. If you, or anyone you know, is in need, Columbia Industries encourages you to visit them at 900 S Dayton St. in Kennewick.
